Taking care of our diet and exercise plans is a practice that we should implement since we are little kids. Health equals good nutrition. For a good nutrition, we must provide our bodies with a wide variety of natural food. That is why we must consume plant-based foods; fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grains and legumes. This way, we will get that famous wide range of nutrients. Five servings of vegetables and fruits are more than enough for this purpose.

We all know that water makes up 70-75 % of our total body weight. Therefore, our main organs depend on water function. Our saliva and main corporal fluids are composed by water. So, for the right performance of our functions, we must drink about six to eight glasses of water everyday.

Fat is also an important element in the constitution of our body. It is the major provider of energy and it also helps to absorb certain vitamins. Nevertheless, too much saturated fat can increase the risks to suffer a heart disease. This is why we must eat a low-fat diet, and choose our fats very wisely. We must also avoid cholesterol, which is found on egg yolks, whole milk and organ meat. Plus, we also must not have an excess of sodium. We only need a small amount of it.

Moreover, as we grow older, we lose muscular mass and gain fat percentage in our weight. Therefore, our metabolism starts working slower. As a consequence, the amount of calories that we spend is reduced. That is why we must learn to eat more fruits and vegetables, which are foods that carry fewer calories.
