Water Aerobics: Ideal Exercise for Joints and Muscles. Take Care of Feet Around Pools Is Essential

Exposing bare feet at the pool requires taking special care of them (not to mention a certain amount of confidence about how they appear to others.) Problems like calluses, discolored or yellow toenails and cracked, dry heels are very noticeable at a pool, whether indoors or out.

(PRWEB) September 29, 2005 -- Millions of Americans have taken a healthy step forward by joining a water aerobics class at their local YMCA or community center.

Beneficial to all ages, water aerobics is especially suitable for seniors, since the buoyancy offered by water causes less strain on joints and muscles. In addition, exercise routines can be adjusted to suit individual needs, restrictions and fitness levels. But being careful about walking on wet, slippery surfaces is essential to avoid injuries; non-skid pool shoes can help. In addition, exposing bare feet at the pool requires taking special care of them (not to mention a certain amount of confidence about how they appear to others.) Problems like calluses, discolored or yellow toenails and cracked, dry heels are very noticeable at a pool, whether indoors or out.

Podiatrists say a few things are important to remember when swimming or participating in water aerobics:

1. Take along some swim shoes or flip-flops and wear them at all times you're not actually in the water;
2. Take special care to dry your feet after swimming. Make sure your feet are and toenails are completely dry, including between your toes.
3. Watch your step. Wet surfaces are slippery, making them a foot injury just waiting to happen.
4. If you're swimming or exercising outdoors, apply sunscreen to your feet as well as the rest of you.
5. Don't share towels with others.

Many individuals are embarrassed by the way their feet and toenails appear, causing them to avoid any activity that exposes their bare feet, including swimming, water aerobics or even wearing sandals or flip-flops. C. J. Buck, CEO of Xenna Corporation, says “Men and women who have yellow, discolored toenails often end up living with restrictions on their activities or shoe styles rather than deal with the embarrassment of exposing their bare feet. Unfortunately, the older we get, the more likely we are to develop unattractive toenails or dry, rough skin on our feet - and that's when maintaining a regular exercise routine is more important than ever to health and longevity.”

Xenna distributes NonyX® Nail Gel and CalleX® Ointment, which were developed and patented using formulations that focus on the exfoliation of keratin – the protein contained in dry skin, callus and nails. The result is innovative, natural foot care products that make embarrassing feet and nails attractive again.

NonyX Gel was developed to provide a unique, natural solution to the problem of yellow, dark or discolored nails, especially toenails - a problem that becomes more common as we age. Buck says, "NonyX Gel is a topical, easy-to-use gel that breaks down and removes keratin debris - the discolored, yellow or thick granular buildup under nails which is the actual source of nail discoloration. It softens keratin debris using natural ethanoic acid, and permits it to be scraped out from under the nail after about four weeks. Once keratin debris is removed, NonyX Gel keeps nails looking clear and attractive with regular use."

Ted Arzonico, Head Athletic Trainer for the Orlando Magic Basketball team, is also a user of NonyX Nail Gel. He comments, “I used NonyX Gel on one toenail that now looks better than ever. Basketball players are leery of new products, but when they see my results, it's a different story. My nail looks really good.”

Podiatrists, spa owners and salons also recommend the natural enzymes found in Xenna's CalleX Ointment to exfoliate calluses naturally, and to smooth and rejuvenate dry, cracked heels. Newly patented, CalleX has been shown in consumer studies to significantly reduce callus, dry, flaking skin and cracking on soles and heels within 15 to 30 days. Acid-free and safe for diabetic use, CalleX moisturizes dry, rough or flaky skin, and exfoliates and thins callused areas, while leaving normal skin unaffected. CalleX Ointment also smoothes fingernail cuticles, which can be a real embarrassment with hangnails, or if they're raw and thick. Many nail salons use CalleX Ointment for both hands and feet as part of a manicure and pedicure, and most users see results on rough cuticles overnight.
